As of now, Lake Arrowhead and Cedar Glen are not in immediate danger. If the fire jumps 18 near Daily Canyon Agua Fria could be in danger because of limited access to the woods there. Firefighters are doing their best to hold the line there on but may have to fall back. Air support is becoming avalible now. Anyone with info make posts.

Our cabin is in Arrowhead Villas. We are on Oakmont, about halfway up the hill from the entry on Hwy 18. Does anyone know if the fire has jumped Hwy 18 in that area?
Sure would appreciate any information, and want you all to know that you and your homes.......and our brave firefighters are in my prayers.

My prayers are with all of you who are dealing with these horrible fires. Is Lake Arrowhead in danger?? I live in Utah so they don't give specifics. I grew up in Northridge and I have family in Arrowhead. I haven't been able to get a hold of them for days. Thanks to anyone with up to date information on this terrible tragedy. Thanks to all you the brave firefighters!!!

Hi Kathy,
We have a cabin just up from you on Ivy Lane, as of now there is nothing being reported to show the fire is anywhere in that area. It's getting close to the Twin Peaks area.
Good luck, we were evecuated Sunday morning around 1:30am.

Tina,
Lake Arrowhead is not in immediate danger yet it appears but changing winds could affect it at any moment. I just heard the air tankers are on their way so let's hope they make some progress today.

Good morning all. I've been watching the fire coverage all morning, and KTLA was showing some GREAT aerial shots. I live in Arrowhead Villas, actually on Arrowhead Villa Road. From the aerial shots, that area is, so far, untouched. The fire is burning along the rim (Hwy 18) just below the High School. Firefighters are setting backfires near the High School to save it. But from the aerial shots, it looks as though the fire hasn't moved far from Hwy 18 into residential areas. KTLA showed Lake Gregory and there wasn't any smoke or damage visible. They also showed Lake Arrowhead (the actual lake) and even the country club, no smoke or damage there. They also showed an aerial shot of Rimforest, and they showed where the fire had come up to the town. They showed where the firefighters were able to stop the fire, although some structures were lost on the other side (north side) of 18. They did show some cabins smoking near the repeater site.
Someone that I know who owns a business along Hwy 18 in Skyforest (and did not evacuate) called into KTLA this morning and told everyone that so far Lake Arrowhead is OK and Blue Jay is OK. And one of the reporters was stationed near the CLiffhanger, it is still standing. This morning planes are dropping retardant on the fire.

While watching the news, Ch 7, 4, 2. We recognized Santa's Village Parking lot on fire as well as Willie Woods, the Presbyterian Church camp. It seems that the news chanels don't know were they were. They were calling it Skycrest, and Rim Forest. Ch 4 was very brave and were right on top of what was going on but did not know where they were. It seems to me that they were in a home on Sycamore Spur. From what we could make out from the film footage the fire jumped 18 between the Episcopal Church and Santa's Village. One news channel said they got the fire stopped others say it is heading towards Lake Arrowhead. We live near the top of Kuffel Cyn. Does anyone know were the fire is and were it's going?

As of this morning, Bill Smith from KTLA Channel 5 news said Lake Arrowhead was spared. They were reporting from the intersection of Hwy 18 and Hwy 173. They took their camera crew down into the Village and everything was OK. But the road block was there at Hwy 18 and 173, so I don't know anything about the Arrowhead Villas. No air crews up this morning. And the fire in Devore moved around the backside of the mountain and is overtaking the Silverwood area and coming up the backside towards Crestline again.

As of this morning, Putty Henck says he drove through all the streets in Skyforest. He says we are okay accept the Willy Woods Presbyterian Camp has burned and 2 or 3 other homes near by. The fire was stopped and is not going down Kuffel Cyn. The Story Book Inn is still standing and has not burned. Any one wishing more websites or information, you may go to mellingerhomes.com We will try to help were we can. Nancy Mellinger

Please do not trust the news 100% living up in the mtns. they have gotten many of the small areas confused. They said the lumber yard in Rim Forest burnt although it is all there untouched. I will post info as I hear what is going on.

The fire is now coming up Hook Creek Road in the Cedar Glen area.

My understanding is that the greatest threats to Lake Arrowhead are posed by the fire on the back side, which jumped the 138 some time ago, and by a possible fire started at a structure in Hook Creek.
The television news coverage has been poor, the radio better, and the internet info has been fairly good.

I don't trust the TV news. I trust what I can see with my own eyes when they show the aerial shots and from where they are standing. I've worked in TV news, and I am now a resident of Lake Arrowhead and I work in Lake Arrowhead in a job that has allowed me to become very familiar with the area. I'm switching between KCAL9 and KABC7. I finally got a clear view of the lake from the air, and the fire is on the east side. I saw Papoose lake from the shot and it is still clear, no smoke over that area. The reporter on KCAL9 taked to Larry Backer who is a resident and has a security company up there. He said the Village and the Resort are OK, not in harm's way at this time. He said the fire is heading toward the Deep Creek area where there was a fire about 4 years ago and the brush is not as thick. The fire is in Cedar Glen, 8 or 9 homes have burned there. Camera crews are still at the helipad at Mountains Community Hospital and they are showing the fire to the east of them on the hillside. They also showed an aerial shot of Squint's Ranch air strip - the fire is headed that way but not there yet.
Someone talked to Putty? Is he still on the mountain? Is he OK?
