Anybody have any information on the fire status West of Lake Arrowhead? Our house is between Grandview School and Grass Valley Road, off Fairway, just above the Golf Course. The last aerial shots I saw show everything covered with drifting smoke, but no obvious fire yet.

Looking for any information about the current situation in Forest Falls. The east side of most maps are cut off and I get no up-to-date information.
Thanks for any help. Steve R.

Does anyone have information in regards to the Hook Creek fires. My mother-in-law has a house there and we weren't sure if it was one of the homes affected on the way to Deep Creek. If you know anything please let me know.

my secretary just got word from her firefighter son that all fire crews have been ordered out of the mountain fire areas. the fire is burning too hot and fast to stop. there was concern re their safety. the plan - let it burn wild until it is safer to try fighting it. has anyone else heard anything like this?!

Kristle Johnson, fire information officer, of US Forest Service on NBC said: (paraphrased) Fire continuing to move above Heaps Peak area on the SE side of Lake Arrowhead. Moving towards the Lake, approaching from both sides of the dam. Moving towards Lake Arrowhead Hospital. Have had extensive structure losses on the South side. Fire if burning on the North shore right now and burning right below that. Fire 2 miles south of the town of Running Springs. Established in plunge creek area. Has crossed 1N09(?) forest service road. Fire will overtake Running Springs in appx. 1 hour. This is very sad news. She made it sound like there was little hope for this immediate area. Fletch

FWIW, NBC talked to a reporter who is on another front of the fire approaching Running Springs and he said he has heard nothing about running springs about to be taken over by fire.
NBC said they confirmed the source of the news.

I know it's very quiet here... if people don't have tv... it's very bad in Cedar Glen, Hook Creek area... 150 homes lost. It is now dark making it almost impossible to defend.

The news about the fire crews coming off the mountain is NOT true. Listen to the scanners... the firefighters are activly fighting the fires as I type. The fire is moving toward big bear from Keller Peak. Fires are comfirmed on mojave River Road east of crestline , Torry Circle near the dam on Arrowhead...Have heard noting on cammand radio about fires in city of blue jay, however early reports were that some trees were on fire in Blue Jay. More soon. SBurnett

Have a house on Potomac, just up the fork in the road of Fremont in the Cedar Glen area. I suspect it won't be there much longer, if it's still standing. Any info on that area would be appreciated.

We are also on Potomac just above Fremont. We heard yesterday that the firefighters were making a stand at Hook Creek and Western, about 1/2 mile southeast of the post office. Since then all the news has been about the devastation to the east. Any news on whether the fire went toward Orchard Bay or the homes between 173 and the lake?

I have relatives in Running Springs, and we haven't been able to reach them. Is the fire anywhere near? Thanks for any info.
